First Direct has the best customer service of any bank for the eighth year in a row, with 94% of its customers saying they would recommend it to friends in a Which? survey.

The report, which focused on current account services, found that the Bank of Ireland and Ulster Bank ranked worst, with scores of 41% and 45% respectively.
The 1,631 people surveyed ranked the online Smile account and The One Account in second and third place, with scores of 78% and 75%.
Second and third from bottom were the Bank of Scotland (50%) and Santander (51%).
However, the Bank of Ireland told?This Is Money?that a recent Ipsos Mori study found that 90% of its customers were satisfied or very satisfied with its services.
